WORTH A VISIT
“It certainly is worth looking in at, and taking a trip down memory lane. Quite a compact museum, but so much to look at, and with the staff on hand, who are extremely knowledgeable it makes for an interesting visit.”
QUAINT LOCAL MUSEUM
“Enjoyed an hour mooching around this quaint local museum. Brimming with local artefacts from the fishing heritage to Butlins. You can get up close to exhibits and even ring the fire bell. Run by volunteers who clearly love the museum and are knowledgeable about local history. Well worth a visit and a small donation”.
HIDDEN GEM
“For such a small place a gem of a museum. Garden nice… Very nice people working there. Just a way to kill a good couple of hours”
DON’T MISS THIS
“This museum is a little gem. When you visit Filey make this a must-see place. The museum is housed in the oldest house in Filey. It’s crammed with a diverse collection of Filey history you will need more than one visit. The staff are incredibly friendly, knowledgable and helpful. And all for £2.50!”
A QUAINT MUSEUM
“Lots of local history and curiosities on display. The archival photographs of aircraft on the beach and the fishing industry were nostalgic. The staff were very friendly and helpful.”
LITTLE GEM
“It’s been far too long since I visited this place, and I wish I had done it sooner. What a superb little place, very well kept, nicely laid out and very informative. The lady looking after the place the day we visited was well versed with local knowledge, and was happy to share it! Well worth a visit.”
ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT LITTLE MUSEUM
“We paid a visit to this museum in an old fisherman’s cottage on a very blustery rainy October afternoon. It was absolutely gorgeous, run by incredibly friendly people who were brilliant with the kids. It’s far bigger than you think it’s going to be, with a number of rooms upstairs, and some interesting stuff in the courtyard garden. The artefacts are a collection of items that people in Filey have donated to the museum, which gives you a really good idea of what life was like in the small fishing village, before it became a seaside tourist destination. Everything was really well displayed, and we loved the rooms laid out how people used to live, with all the furniture and equipment. Highly recommended. There’s a small charge to get in, which pays for the upkeep of the museum.”
