Welcome to Filey Museum…
Tucked away in the old part of town, close to the 12 century St Oswalds Church, the museum was originally two single storey cottages with thatched roofs. The buildings are the oldest domestic buildings in Filey, as shown by the date 1696 above one of the doors. In the late 1960s, Filey Urban District Council invited the Filey Local History Society to establish a museum. The museum opened in May 1971.
From rural and domestic crafts to lifeboats, fishing and all things maritime – you’ll discover the charm, secrets and history of Filey.
